YOGA NIDRA (One Hour)

Experience lasting peace…even during your most difficult times.

Yoga Nidra is a transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditation that leads to lasting physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.  Awaken to your true nature and live a more contented life, free of conflict, anxiety, and fear.

ASHTANGA YOGA BASICS (Beginner)

This class introduces the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice, a traditional flowing sequence of yoga postures, linked together by the power of the breath.  Students will learn the basic sequence of postures including sun salutations and standing and seated postures, with modifications for those with tightness or injuries.    Physically, this energizing style of yoga balances both strength and flexibility while integrating body, mind and spirit in a meditative flow.
           

VINYASA FLOW YOGA (Intermediate)

“Vinyasa” means connecting movement and this flow-style class adds creative new postures to the basic Ashtanga sequence and combines them in a seamless flow of movement and breath.  Designed for students who have a basic understanding of the Ashtanga practice, this class continues the journey inwards by also exploring some postures in more depth, refining the use of the “ujjayi” breath, building core strength, and deepening meditative awareness.

YOGA TO UNWIND (Beginner)

Geared to the “desk jockey and computer slave”, this light beginner class is designed to help “unwind” from both the physical and emotional stresses of working the “9 to 5 grind”.  This timely class will help release those areas we tend to overuse and strengthen the areas we under use while sitting at a computer or desk all day.   Release strain in the neck and shoulders, stretch out tight hips, build core strength, and learn simple breathing and meditation techniques to calm and focus the mind. 

MOVING INTO STILLNESS (Beginner)

Move!  Stretch!  Breathe!  Relax!  Create ease of movement in your body and restore balance and wholeness to your life.  This creative class begins with gentle flowing movement to warm-up, progresses into simple yoga postures, then slowly guides the mind into stillness through the use of breathing (pranayama) and meditation techniques.

SIVANANDA YOGA

A Sivananda class whether conducted in Lethbridge, or anywhere in the world, reflects its origins in the ancient traditions of India. Consequently, the student will be introduced to practices including chant, pranayama (life-force control), asana (posture), and meditative contemplation.  Designed by Swami Vishnu-Devananda, Sivananda Yoga offers both challenging opportunities for personal growth and periods of deep relaxation.  Typically postures are held for a longer time allowing students to breathe into and relax into the posture in order to appreciate the full benefits.
